UAL is actively engaged in research and innovation as well as artistic, cultural and education projects.
CSM courses combine design and product innovation to develop and realise design and crafts products and accessories for the design industries. Students research, design and develop their ideas through to a finished 3D prototype and frequently work on live industry projects to understand designing for a client brief, market sector, consumer and manufacturing processes. Live projects set by industry are presentations to the companies involved, and students have the option, in fine art and many of the design course to do a placement year to gain further industry experience.
CSM is actively engaged in research into STEAM methods and approaches across a range of art, design and communication projects, including working with Camden Steam. New strategies for evolving Knowledge Exchange as a means to drive constructive partnerships within and between HE and enterprise are at the forefront of curriculum development, and the MA Art and Science is contributing to this process addressing inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to learning, teaching and research in this dynamic STEAM related field of enquiry.
